On June 22 in the Piazza Garibaldi, a peaceful village square lying in the heart of the city of Sondrio, Italy, in the foothills of the Alps, Prem Rawat was greeted by the town's mayor, Alcide Molteni, along with Marina Cotelli, Town Hall Alderman.

Two days later, he arrived in the city of Padua, one of the oldest and noblest cities in northern Italy, to speak at the impressive Teatro Verdi, which first became a cultural forum in 1751. Hosted by the Town Hall of Padua, Province of Padua, and the Region of Veneto, he was greeted by presenter Angelo Baiguera with a message of goodwill from Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Italian Republic, expressing appreciation and best wishes. After Prem Rawat spoke, he was presented with the seal of the city of Padua, as well as a plaque commending the work of The Prem Rawat Foundation.

On June 29, at the invitation of Gianni Pittella, first Vice President of the European Parliament, Prem Rawat was the keynote speaker at a conference entitled "Words of Peace for Europe." Held in the prestigious setting of the European Parliament building in Brussels, the event was introduced by Vice President Pittella and included a talk by Pavel Borodin, State Secretary of the Union of Russia and Belarus, and a message of good wishes for the event from Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Republic of Italy.

What is being taught? The value of each breath is being taught. The value of this existence is being taught. When I feel that true Gratitude, it evokes me, not a society, not an idea or concepts. When I say all this, it is not meant to be just words, it has to be real for you. Thats when it matters. So many of you have come here, and it's been a while since you have been to a live event. It wonderful to be here, to see each other eye to eye and say "It's not a TV". Because you are alive, be alive!

Lady: I just would like to thank you for everything you have done in my life. But mostly today I would like to thank you for the human effort. Your presence, attention, commitment makes this happen. To me it was so special!

Another: I just wanted to tell you how absolutely beautiful my life has been and continues to be, since I first heard you and received knowledge 25 years back. I just feel so proud when I see your press release, what you have done around the world, whether speaking at Italian Parliament, or what you have done for the Tsunami.

Maharaji: Thank you very much, but I dint do anything for the Tsunami. What can I do with Tsunami, Tsunami is already over. But I did something for the victims of the Tsunami! TPRF is doing some Good stuff and trying to take care of people who need the help. Clean water and food are very very important. The greatest gift you can give anyone is the gift of joy. The Gift of peace is the greatest gift you can given anybody- Hungry or not hungry, believe me. Peace Rules!

Ambassador for Peace Presentation- Rome, Italy, December 2012 [07:18 min] Honorable members of the Parliament, government and distinguished guests. Some times we forget what this process of peace is. There are many ideas of what Peace is. The most practical example I can give is, when you clean something. What do you do- Do you the clean from a bottle and spread it all over? Or do you take the dirt and remove it? When the dirt is removed, whatever it is- becomes clean automatically. When people talk about peace, there are many ideas.
The peace that I'm talking about, is the inate peace that lies in the heart of every single human being. So people say, "How come I don't feel it, see it, don't know about it?" Ah, the cleaning! There are too many things between the purity of human being and everything else. The process of peace is to take away all that exist between human beings. Not add things, but to take away. And it is very easy. You see, it is very easy to gain weight, but lose weight. Very easy to lose money, very hard to gain it. Not everything has the same rule.
I say to the world, Don't be fooled by the glitter, by the progress what we think is. Because the mantra of people today is only one- What can I do! Light a lamp of hope in yourself. One of the things that is wonderful about the laughter, about the happiness and peace indeed, is that it is contagious. Spread this contagious feeling of peace!
I heard what the prisoners in Zonderwaters had to say to me- the comments. One of the comments that has stuck in my head- One inmate said, "I've been in prison for quite a while and I've never felt happy being in prison. But today, I did! I feel so full." When he said that, just one person. But when he said that, somehow it my 3 month tour worth it. Because a human being felt happiness that day. Peace is a necessity my friend, not a luxury. Maybe the time has come to start looking at this world in a new way. And it begins with all of us. One step at a time.

Humanitarian Initiative- Giving from the Heart [14:37 min] This video presents some of the significant humanitarian initiatives recently undertaken by The Prem Rawat Foundation. Prem Rawat, known also by the honorary title Maharaji, has traveled the world for four decades, inspiring people to find peace within. He created the Foundation to help make his message of peace available, and he provided the vision for supporting and spearheading significant initiatives that help improve the quality of life for people most in need around the world.

This is about us, this is about being alive. This is the opportunity- Take that opportunity. You're not going to be here forever. You're not. Don't be under any illusion. But don't let that sadden you and don't let that madden you. Just feel the urgency of today, that's all. Just put that sharpness on what it means to be alive today. What is important is this breath, look at that!

Lot of exciting things, I think a lot of events are going to happen. Indian, not the most together people in this world, but when it comes to putting up events on Peace, they just outdid themselves. Some of these events you see with 100,000 people, 5000 people are with Knowledge. Rest all are guests, they are all invited. I've satted a stage with 250,000 people looking at me. You have gone to football field where 100,000 or 150,000 people are there. But they are not looking at you. I've been in the place where 250,000 people are looking at me and I'm looking at them- Just a human beings. I really just like to see a person as a human being. Not as man-woman, rich-poor, this-that, just human being.

Professor: (from IIT Delhi in NRCVEE) I would like to know from you Maharaji, what message do you have for millions of poor people in this country. They have lots and lots of problem. What kind of message would you have for them?

Maharaji: My message to them is exactly same as for the one has two square meals a day. And not two meters, but miles of land to them. Because after you have eaten and your hunger is gone, there is still inner contentment to be had. It is upto us to take away the poverty from the face of this earth. And may be that solution begins when a person can feel the peace in their life and they finally look around to see what is possible.

Drifting- Safe Harbor- Take Notice [07:26 min] So much happens in a person’s life and for so many people it really is like this boat and anchor drifting with the waves, drifting with the wind, drifting with the currents and then, somebody comes along and says you dont have to be drifting, that there is a harbour in which you may anchor and if this possibility is true. And I know that every being in their heart of hearts knows that there is a harbor, there is anchorage that is safe. Then let me prepare myself to understand, to accept, this divinity in my life, this possibility in my life.

And one of the most beautiful opportunities is the possibility of a master in one’s life to help that. Teach me, so that not you, but I, can stay away from ignorance. Grant me the gift so I may be awakened to that most beautiful possibility of understanding and accepting my own existence. Give me the gift, give me the courage to accept this magic in my life. Every day, every waking moment I have to prepare myself, I have to remind myself to look in that direction, to gaze upon that beauty that lies within me, I have to honour it. I have to be there to welcome it. I have to be there to embrace it and if that can be the focus thats when the being begins to dance- not physically, but within- thats when understanding begins to come. There is something like this in our life. There is an opportunity.

If somebody comes in your life and says- "I can give you peace, I can bring you in touch with your heart" Take notice- thats worth it! If you have that in this life, in this existence. Then that is the fulfillment of this existence.

Be fulfilled.

Maharaji: "I want you to ask yourself, What do you practice the most. Because whatever you practice the most, you're going to become good at it!
If you practise kindness, you're going to get good at it.
The strongest country in the world should be the kindest country in the world. I am not here to give you peace, I'm here to put this idea in your head that peace exists inside of you. All I wanted to do, is to come here today and really let you feel that this is a new step. But when it comes to feeling that peace inside, this remains our own responsibility. A journey of a thousand miles, begins with the first step. Please... Take the first step!"

Hi, my name is Prem Rawat, and I'm so glad to be participating in International Peace Day. The importance of peace is for all of us. Sometimes we forget how important it is. But to be reminded that this is what our heart wants, that this is what is going to make a difference in this world, that this is the thirst for every single human being on the face of this earth.

We have many ideas, we have many projects, but to be a part of this noble cause that the peace be on this earth, that the peace dances in the heart of human beings, is amazing. It's incredible and to be a part of that, to understand it and to make it possible. I am just one small voice. It is when all the voices of the world will join together that this could become a reality. It is time. We have fought our wars, We have had our wars. But it is time now for peace, peace in the heart of all human beings. In the future generations to come, this is what they need. This is what we need. This is what our hearts have desired for such a long time. And to see the enthusiasm around the world from those people who want to make this a reality is simply amazing.
