Addressing public gathering at a square in Sondrio, Italy

It is rather interesting that this message is reaching people all over the world, breaking language and cultural boundaries. Recently, Prem Rawat was invited to speak in the city of Sondrio, Italy.

Prem Rawat: Thank you. I would like to begin by welcoming everyone. All the distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen. It's pleasure to be here today, to talk on the wonderful subject of Peace. For a lot of people, the question becomes what is peace. How do we get it?

To me when something is not obvious then the questions come. If I was to say to you, is the sun shining. You would say "Are you blind?" There is no question the sun is shining. Would there need to be a debate and explanation? No. Because when something is obvious, there are no questions. There's no debate, no explanation. So what do I mean when I say these things, and on top of that I've come here to talk about peace. Peace begins with us- human beings. What does that mean? If you don't know who you are, you're not going to know what it is that you want.

Know who you are! If you don't know yourself, you won't know what your needs are, and everything is going to become very complicated. Like the world has already made the subject of peace incredibly complicated. Everywhere you go, somebody has a new definition, expression, and idea. I've said this before, and I'll say it again: Peace is the perfume of God. When you're close to that God that resides in you. You cannot help but smell that perfume. And that is within you. The desire for that perfume and that wearer of that perfume too, is within you.

Peace is not a social thing. Peace is the lamp that is lit inside of you- Lamp of Knowledge, Lamp of clarity. The lamp that has power to remove darkness. Not to guess and debate, but to see the obviousness of every single living human being on the face of this earth. Understand, that they are not any different than you. It is easy to say "So and so is poor, or ignorant, or illiterate." But look at yourself. Not in the negative way. And you will that you too have that quest to be fulfilled, like everyone else.

If peace is what we want, we can have peace. If we can go to the moon, we can have peace. You people standing at this square represent those people who say "Peace is possible".
