Asia Pacific Brands Foundation BrandLaureate International Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award
Prem Rawat, founder of The Prem Rawat Foundation, recently accepted the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation BrandLaureate International Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award for his efforts on behalf of world peace beginning with individual peace.
Prem Rawat received the award at a forum called "7 Billion Reasons for Peace" held in conjunction with a United Nations International Day of Peace 2012 observance in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. He became only the fifth individual to be given the award, which recognizes individuals for their work to positively impact the lives of people around the globe.
Previous recipients are
- former South Africa President Nelson Mandela
- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
- Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia from 1981-2003
- Heinz Fischer, President of Austria
Prem Rawat said he was accepting the award "on behalf of every single voice that stands for peace," noting that the conflict that needs to be addressed begins in the minds of human beings.
"There is a war," Prem Rawat told an audience that included royalty, business leaders, diplomats and delegates from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the U.S., Britain and Australia, "not necessarily with guns and bullets, but going on here"-in the mind-"because that's what we have gotten to.
"It is time to practice peace," he said. "It is time to practice consciousness. It is time to practice kindness. It is time to practice embracing each other. If we forget the human being in humanity, if we cannot get along, then heaven help us. Unification begins with each one of us."

War begins in the minds of human beings.
Conflict does not begin on the outside.
Conflict begins inside,
and the resolution to the conflict
is also on the inside.
Conflict doesn't just happen between borders.
Conflicts can happen inside a country,
inside a town,
inside a house.
Do you know what it is like to stop in the middle of your wars
and understand, that peace
that dances within you?
Have you felt that feeling, when you are
in sync with your existence?
Discover it.
Feel it.

The truest nature of a human being
is to be in peace
to seek contentment
to evolve
to gain knowledge.
Every single human being
on the face of this earth
has the fundamental right to feel peace
and the source of peace is in you.
It is time
for the citizens of the world
to open their eyes
and become active participants
in seeking peace.
And what is that effort we have to make?
We need to look at ourselves
as the source of peace.
If we take that approach,
then peace will come.
There is a place of peace within the heart
of every single human being.
Choose!
